A new model for a world-class contemporary art event for Montreal and the world
Why the name "sphere"?
SPHERE(S) exists at the crossroads of the public sphere and the individual, and aims to offer a unique experience in Canada and the world through a unifying event.
Territory
Each sphere relates to a territory where artists highlight "the commons". Emphasis on the creative process
A "sphere" corresponds to a given territory: several spheres are active from one edition to the next, and designates a location in the Montreal metropolitan area.
The name recalls the connectivity-based architectural principles of Buckminster Fuller's geodesic dome for Expo '67.
Culture evolves at the intersection of distinct and differentiated cultural spheres: see the Spheres trilogy by German philosopher Peter Slodertijk (2002), and works on the notion of archipelago by Creole writer Édouard Glissant.
